My grandfather, who raised me, was in a nursing home since February. COVID-19 came and made it impossible to visit with him. He has been on his journey alone. He was able to go back to his own home, but only for 1 night. He was taken to the ICU the next day. My only chance of visiting him was gone. I drove 1.5 hours to see him in the ICU only to be told that I was not able to visit with him. Cindy gave me the option to talk to him through the window. She moved his bed to see me and even delivered the gifts that I had brought. She read the cards with heart! I got to see my goofy Papa one more time! Because of her effort I got to see him for maybe even the last time.
I know in his old, wrinkly age he can be a pain in the butt, but please remember he is not just a patient in room x. He was a man who shared many special memories with me. A man who always put me first before ever thinking of himself.
Thank you, Cindy, for setting up a video chat with my grandfather, for moving his bed, for reading his belated birthday cards, for delivering his flowers, and for just taking care of this special man! Cindy went above and beyond to help us simply feel good!
