Kim took photos and completed a step by step process to educate hospital staff and home health how to manage dressing changes.
Kim was nominated by the IFOH Surgical Unit Director and surgical nursing team for her outstanding work in caring for a patient who had a very complicated wound that required extensive dressing changes. Kim tackled the situation with perseverance and an open mind. She used her creativity, troubleshooting skills, and knowledge to address challenges. Kim created makeshift devices to effectively apply a wound vac and maintain its proper placement for optimal function. She collaborated with the MDs, dieticians, nurses, and case management at the hospital and after discharge to ensure comprehensive care for the patient. Kim took her time to listen to the patient's needs and understand her concerns. Kim took photos and completed a step by step process to educate hospital staff and home health how to manage dressing changes. She came in on her days off to check in on the patient, change the wound vac daily, and would try new ideas to encourage proper wound healing. She provided exceptional and expert care to a patient that truly needed it. Kim sincerely cares and endeavors to deliver the best care possible. She went above and beyond! Her patient truly appreciated her efforts and recognized Kim's dedication through the care she provided.
