Sarah has been my son’s night nurse for the past three nights. I can’t not commend her enough or say enough good words about her skills, compassion and her genuine personality as a nurse. On her first night as his nurse, my son was scheduled to have a NG tube put in. The first attempt required oral versed to calm him down. When he started to become anxious and combative, she immediately stopped. She then called the doctor and expressed that it was not enough sedation for him. The doctor then ordered IV versed. When she started to administer it to him, we noticed that he became agitated and aggressive. She immediately stopped the infusion and called the doctor again.
She advocated for my son to be taken to special procedures in the morning so that his NG tube could be placed in under anesthesia. The next morning they did just that. It made such a world of difference for my son and really calmed him down. Since then she has been so wonderful with checking in on him and helping to keep him clean and his bed changed. She is an exceptional nurse and you can tell that pediatric nursing is what she was born to do. We have been so blessed to have her here at night. If anyone deserves the Daisy award it is most certainly Sarah.
