I want to take some time out to personally thank your staff for their exceptional care. Their hard work did not go unnoticed. There was one nurse in particular that really stood out. Amanda is amazing and exemplifies everything the DAISY Award stands for!
During her time with my family, Amanda was compassionate, empathetic, informative, and professional. She was "cool, calm, and collected" as she titrated numerous drips while concurrently teaching her orientee and answering the never-ending questions from visitors. As my sister's results came in, and care changed from curative to palliative, Amanda was the shoulder we cried on and the ear to listen to us talk about our sweet sister. She allowed us to fix my sister's hair, paint her fingernails and put on a little makeup before the procurement surgery (because what girl doesn't want to look her best).
In closing, as a new fellow nurse, Amanda is someone I aspire to be like. She taught me so many lessons in such a short amount of time, none greater than the power of holistic care. Not only did she care for my sister, but she cared for each, and every member of my family and sister's friends. Her love is something I will never forget.
