My husband had triple bypass surgery. From the time he arrived at ICU, he was so well cared for. The first full day in the unit, my husband had Cindi Wheeler. She was phenomenal. Being delirious and disoriented, my husband kept trying to get up, setting off alarms. He tried to pull at tubes, not understanding why they were there. With every alarm or every question I had, Cindi was so compassionate, caring, and calming to me and my husband. She never sits down. She jumps and is in the room in an amazingly fast response time. I felt so blessed to have her caring for my husband but then her shift ended. The next few nurses my husband had were all very competent but during my husband's stay, there were numerous times when he would press the call button and Cindi would respond. She probably saw my husband at least one to two times a day even when she wasn't his designated nurse. Her response time was incredible. I would tell her we can wait for his nurse, but she would say, "No problem. I'm here and can take care of it now." This happened again and again. Her smile would light up a room. She needs to be recognized for going above and beyond her normal responsibilities. Even if she wasn't responding, she would see me in the hallway and always ask how my husband was doing each day. I cannot say enough about this very, very special nurse.
