Amber works well in all areas of our department, which includes Recovery, Surgery, and Endoscopy, as a sedation nurse, and in pre and post-op areas. She has cross-trained to the ER to work when needed and available. This requires additional classes to meet mandatory requirements for the ER.
She has adapted well to the Cerner conversion and has become efficient with time. She wants to learn and be competent involving nursing care. She puts the patients and family members first at all times and will spend extra time, as needed, talking to the patient and helping to relax the patient and family members.
She participates in the orientation of new employees, which increases her workload and always makes that employee feel important.
She flexes her hours to adjust to the OR schedule, which helps keep the flow of patients moving and helps cover call 24/7, which allows surgery availability at any given time.
She is attending Emerging Leaders at Bloomington at this time and is always looking for ways to improve herself and become a better nurse.
She is a team player and gets along well with all staff and physicians. We all appreciate having Amber in our department.
