Girlie Santos provided extraordinary care to me while I was a patient at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.I am 72 years old today and I have been fortunate enough to never have had a hospital stay.
Last month, however, I was admitted to Mercy Gilbert Medical Center with AFib and AFlutter. During my time there I received an ablation which was successful, however, I apparently had contracted an infection and had to be readmitted 12 hours later and I became very sick and weak.
During my stay, there were many individuals who cared for me in a professional and compassionate way. Girlie Santos, who was my charge nurse, consistently demonstrated excellence through her clinical expertise and her extraordinary compassionate care. She is an individual who gives 110%. She is so devoted to her patients she makes one feel comfortable when they are not, safe when they are fearful, and she is calming when the condition is anything but calming.
Girlie spent the time to check on me before she checked into her shift and then again after she had checked out at the end of her shift. There were even times when she would check on me during her breaks. In my opinion, she is far more than a great nurse who is in a job or a profession. Her work is truly a calling.
Individuals like Girlie always make their employers look good. In this case, and in my opinion, she is a major asset to the Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and a true DAISY Nurse.
