When I first arrived, I was scared to death because there were tons of people standing around my gurney grabbing at different parts of me and I felt like I had no dignity left. I kept feeling like that until arriving at my ICU room and meeting Kelsey - she made me feel like my dignity and respect came back. She held my shoulders and treated me like I was her mother and not just another patient. She told me things would be okay and my girls' weekend could be rescheduled once I was feeling better.
Kelsey never made me feel like a heel when she gave me stool softeners and then had an accident, just told me that is a sign of success from the meds. When my family visited, she would take the time to let me introduce them and join in on the conversation with her on personal experiences.
