The Silver Linings team nominated Candice for her many kind and considerate deeds towards our patients. She loves to talk to her patients. I mean the kind of talking that you can learn some deep dark secrets. They love Candice. Specifically, one patient was expressing her desire to go home but the reality was that she didn't have the essentials required to do so, such as electricity, utilities, and food. Candice discovered the patient did have a home and with further investigation, Candice discovered the patient also receives a regular check. Knowing the patient received a monthly check, Candice went to working on turning on utilities, calling the patient's local church to assist with getting food, and calling her bank to get her rent automatically withdrawn from her check. Candice even got the local police department to come out and unlock the patient's house in which she no longer had a key. Candice even called DHS to help start the process for the patient to receive food stamps.
We were all blown away by Candice's efforts. This patient's discharge plan was to go to the shelter but over a three day period, Candice changed this individual's life by giving them Hope! Candice was relentless in her efforts and her tireless work allowed a patient to go home! She has a true patient-focused attitude and we are proud to have her as part of our team.
