Michaelagh Tracy provides exemplary care to all of her patients. She continually picks up extra shifts when needed; she is always willing to assist other staff; and, she is committed to her continued education as a nurse. She always comes in and allows herself ample time to review all information related to her patients. She is also thorough in her examinations and is consistent in making sure that we are doing everything possible to provide patients with the best quality care.
In one such instance she was the oncoming nurse to a patient, whom the staff of the unit were all familiar with. This patient was to get a platelet transfusion. Upon greeting the patient, the patient complained of a headache, and instead of simply administering a PRN pain medication such as Tylenol, this nurse thought to perform a neuro assessment and found one of the patient's pupils to be irregular. This prompted her to notify the MD to come and examine the patient and order a scan that uncovered that the patient was actively having a brain hemorrhage. The patient was immediately then transferred to the ICU for further monitoring and more intensive treatment. Throughout all of this, Michaelagh stayed with the patient to reassure and comfort her that everything was being done to provide her with the necessary treatment while also informing the patient that she would update her family on her condition so that they could be there for her as she wanted.
Thanks to Michaelagh's remarkable concern for her patients, this patient was able to receive the higher quality of care this hospital is committed to.
