Shannon Hague's clinical skill and especially her compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model.
Shannon takes excellent care of her patients every day. She is an expert Critical Care nurse caring for our sickest patients, and providing support to their family members. Her assignments are based not only on her expertise, but also her ability to handle difficult situations with ease. Her patients will often ask where she is and when will she be back from her days off? There are many situations where she has gone above and beyond.
One patient Shannon was caring for was middle aged and on a ventilator. His only family were his elderly parents. His parents were disabled, wheelchair bound and having a very difficult time getting to visit their son. They were extremely worried and wanted to be at his bedside. Shannon took the time to get a wheelchair from Admitting and transport them to and from their son's bedside. When they would tire, she would take them one at a time in the wheelchair back to the waiting room to rest. Regardless of how busy she was, she made these efforts to support this family during an extremely stressful time in their lives.
