Z was not feeling well and his wife decided that it was time for him to visit his physician. They were on their way to the doctor's office when he passed out and rear ended the car in front of him. She knew that something was terribly wrong. She put the car in park, dragged her husband out of the car, all the while shouting for help. Kilee happened to be a few cars ahead of them and pulled over to offer assistance. Kilee implemented CPR at the scene, and the patient was transported to Kingwood Medical Center. Kilee visited Z several times during his stay, and then again when he was discharged one week later. Were it not for Kilee's immediate response, the outcome may have been significantly different.
Kilee exhibits what it means to be an extraordinary nurse, even when not on active duty. As Z stated, with gratitude, during the DAISY Award Ceremony, "there are no words to say to the person who saved your life."
