It was Valentine's Day and Kaitlynn was caring for an elderly patient whose wife was also admitted in another unit at Seton Hays. When Kaitlynn told him it was Valentine's Day he told her, "I want to go see my wife - I love that woman so much!"
The patient was being discharged back to his nursing home that day, so Kaitlynn helped him get dressed and fix his hair. However, before bringing him to see his wife, she stopped by the Gift Shop and got him a small gift to bring to his wife. When she gave him the gift for her, his face lit up and he said, "She is going to love this!"
It was a small gesture that Kaitlynn did not even think twice about, but I'm sure it impacted the patient more than she will know. She saw this gentleman as more than just a "patient".
Kaitlynn truly practices HumanCare.
