Amy Carper has gone above and beyond her job description to see that a gentleman who had been in her care had a respectful funeral service between an argumentative family. The family could not agree on anything. He passed away in the early morning hours and no funeral home would take him because of the family fighting. Finally, after 9 hours of mediation, she called us back and told us that she sat with both sides of the family over speaker phone and got them to agree to certain aspects of the service. She then emailed us a detailed description, worked with us on a time to come to the funeral home to help mediate the arrangements. When a fight ensued, she helped the staff separate the two sides, and we tag-teamed the families to get these arrangements finalized according to her witnessed mediation. Without her help, this family would have never come to terms. She is the most kind, compassionate, and caring hospice nurse I have come into contact with in 20 years. Amy went above her job, and did what she felt was right. I feel she deserves the DAISY Award for her compassion and courage in a very stressful situation.
