Carrie has been amazing! The first night she entered the room and was calm, reassuring and comforting despite our son needing to be suctioned, he was vomiting and all his monitors were alarming. We were exhausted from lack of sleep and our stress levels were out of control. She calmly answered all of our questions with such compassion and provided so much reassurance to us. We developed a plan for the night so that our son could get as much rest as possible and arranged his care for the night with the tech and RT so everything could be done at one time. What a difference that made for us and our son's sleep schedule. We can't explain how thankful we are.
The next night she did the same thing for us and spent time just explaining the plan for our son and we talked about family and life in general. It was nice to make a connection and have a nurse show interest in our family while providing amazing care to our son. The 3rd night Carrie was back we decided to actually go home to our other children after not being with them for 8 days. Carrie encouraged us to go and that she would call with any issues and told us we could call her at any time and gave us her direct number (which we called 5 times, and each time she was just as friendly). We really needed the time at home and so thankful she encouraged us to go home. We were shocked that we felt comfortable enough for a non-family member to stay with our medically fragile baby. She was so comforting to us that we had 100 percent trust in her that she would provide our son with anything he needed.
We will be forever grateful to Carrie for the compassion, love, skill and reassurance she demonstrates every day.
