Amy Wallace- 12 WT (General Medicine Transplant Unit)
From a Parent:
"My Cooper had just come back up from surgery to place a central line. Amy had just
checked his peripheral IV and it was running fine. Out of nowhere his entire arm,
chest, and neck swelled up tight. Amy rushed in and started working to figure out
the problem. Cooper was in pain and I was alone with him. Amy gave report about her
other patients and passed her pager on so she could stay with us. She took us to
ultrasound herself and got the surgeons to come in there to check to make sure the
swelling wasn't being caused by his new central line. She stayed with us the entire
time we were down stairs and made sure I understood everything that was going on.
She also made sure Cooper was okay and not hurting. Once we came back up to the
floor she continued to stay with us and ended up staying late because she was
worried about Cooper. Her care and concern for Cooper touched my heart and she is an
outstanding Nurse who always takes time to give her best care."
From an Employee:
"Last week Amy was extremely busy with a heavy patient load. The patient's mom was
very anxious and had a lot of questions. Each time that I noticed Amy running in the
hall way, she would always stop, smile and answer mom's questions appropriately,
respectfully, and professionally even though she was overwhelmed. She is a great
Nurse and shows great clinical expertise when caring for her pt. She is also a great
Nurse and offers help when she is not busy."
