Lea Ellen Reed - RN – Transplant/Nephrology

Here is what an employee Sheryl had to say about Lea Ellen: “Lea Ellen Reed is one of the most compassionate nurses I have ever had the privilege of knowing and working with. Her loving, yet professional nursing care is exemplary. I have witnessed her time and time again hold a hand and go out of her way to make a bad day for a patient better; a funny card from the gift shop or a treat from ‘Doc Java’ to name a few. In one instance, she had two patients the same day very tearful and depressed over their conditions. She gathered as many of us together to sing a silly song to them. Both patients were so uplifted and appreciative. She is also our “Infectious Disease Resource Nurse” and is always diligently working for all of us to strive for excellence in infection control here on our unit. She takes her job and many roles very seriously and strives for all of us to do the same. She has been a preceptor and mentored many new nurses and does an excellent job. She has helped ‘groom’ many new nurses to their roles here at UAMS. These are just a few of the many things that Lea Ellen does on a daily basis when caring for her patients. I believe Lea Ellen is a nurse who is very deserving of this award.”
