Sherry was nominated by the parents of a patient. Here is an excerpt from her nomination letter: Sherry made signs to decorate our son's crib. She made a care guide for our son so other nurses could follow it. She took extra time to explain complicated terms, procedures and medical issues. She was always an advocate for our son's care making us as parents feel comfortable. We knew when we left he was in very excellent hands. Sherry always did the extra little things that made our stay in the NICU more manageable."
We see here that Ms. Mason is able to communicate in a way that is understood by the parents of her patients -- she connects with them. This gift gives them confidence in the care that their son received and gave them the gift of being able to separate from a stressful situation and get needed rest.
