Dee Lolley was nominated by a co-worker for her compassionate care and critical thinking in the case of a young, mother who had to come to the hospital 2-3 times for post-partum bleeding and eventually wound up going to surgery for hysterectomy. This young mom was very afraid of the situation, worried that she would not come through the procedure and be well enough to go home and take care of her baby. Dee took charge of the patient's pre-surgical care, got her back to the OR quickly and gave the patient all the assurance she needed to be positive about the surgery. Dee and this patient connected in that way that nurses and their patients sometimes do. The patient had a great outcome and was discharged home later that week to be with her family.
