Annie greeted us when we arrived here in the wee hours of the morning. She was gentle, caring, and very professional. She quickly explained what we could expect from her as well as the others who would be caring for my husband during his hospital stay; "we're here to help you in every way we can so that you feel better as soon as possible!". Such encouraging words - words that were clearly very genuinely communicated! Annie kept our white board updated with all the needed information and encouraged us to call her with any questions or concerns. Annie knew that my husband was experiencing intense pain from a "stuck" kidney stone and wanted to reassure him that managing his pain was her #1 priority throughout the duration of her shift. With the genuine expression of those words to my husband, I could see his facial express begin to relax, thus reducing his concern that his pain could once again return to an intolerable level! What a genuine, authentic communication can do for someone experiencing intense pain. Thank you Annie for being part of such a wonderful, caring culture of patient care at St. Francis.
