While I had a very rough Friday, and ended up having an NG tube placed, it seemed that things just continued in a bad way for me. When Ruth came in on Saturday, she could tell I was in distress and very upset. Although her pager was going off like crazy and she had other patients to attend to (which she did), Ruth made me her top priority. My dad had passed away unexpectedly right before I went in for surgery so not only was I dealing with my surgery setbacks, I was very emotional about losing my dad. She not only took care of me from a health standpoint, she provided that ear to listen and shoulder for me to cry on. It was a very trying few days, but the care and compassion Ruth provided to me over the weekend meant the world to me. I truly believe it was her caring and cheer leading that got me turned around so quickly. I hope you know how amazing she is. While I felt like I was her only patient, I know that was not the case. But, she never made me feel like I was anything other than her top priority. I don't believe I would be doing as well as I am at home, if I hadn't received the wonderful, compassionate care from Ruth at Saint Joseph's Hospital.
