My 17 year old daughter accidentally caught herself on fire while trying to burn weeds. She arrived to the ED with blisters already forming on her arm and legs, and she was in an intense amount of pain. Her nurse, Ken, was amazing in his care of my daughter. He coached her through the excruciating debridement process of tearing the burned skin from her body. He maintained excellent composure during the challenging process, and handled her wounds in a way that would help her ultimately heal later. He calmed her down as much as possible, and maintained excellent communication with us, as her parents. After the debridement was to his satisfaction, he worked to obtain transport for us to the burn unit in Springfield, which took well into the early morning hours to arrive. During this time, he stayed on top of my daughters pain and communicated to us all what would be happening when we arrived in Springfield. I cannot express how comfortable we felt under such arduos circumstances. His competency and skill were evident, which put us at ease. His compassion and thoughtfulness beyond his skill is what made him outstanding to us. I am so thankful for Ken and so thankful for what he did for my daughter. Words cannot express my gratitude for him being at Proctor that night. Thank you!
