Nicolette is a truly gifted nurse, teacher, and mentor. I have not seen a nurse that keeps a cleaner room and bedside or more organized chart than Nicolette. She goes above and beyond to make sure each and every aspect of the care that her patient requires is ordered and done correctly. The number of times Nicolette has come to me to discuss a situation and her assessment of what needs to be done for her patient is innumerable. I would say that she embodies the exact nature of interdisciplinary team driven care. And she is an excellent clinician as well.
I have not one time in 5 years encountered a situation that Nicolette couldn't defuse or make better. She builds relationships and rapport with some of our most difficult to work with families. Hurdles such as language and social disparities do not stop Nicolette. Just today she created a huge extraordinarily detailed scheduled for one of our most complex patients and had it translated to Spanish to make the care easier for the family and better for the patient.
Nicolette is an excellent preceptor. Her preceptees are some of the best on the unit. She started, on her own, a mentorship program that has now gone hospital wide. Nicolette sets the standard high for her colleagues and we should all strive to be more like her.
