Six years ago as a new graduate nurse coming to work for Genesis, Jaynee stood out in particular to me and still does to this day. Jaynee is a prime example of a patient advocate and peer advocate. As a new nurse I did not work the same shift as her, but was able to follow her for a few days during my orientation. I learned so very much from her in those two days in regards to time management, patient education, and understanding that as a nurse the most important job I had was to ensure the safety of our patients. It is now six years later and I just left my position to take a new position in a different department, but up until I left, not a day went by that I didn't know Jaynee was in my corner. She is the first person to step up and offer her help in difficult situations. Many times she would help by passing out meds for me or simply round on my patients to ensure they still felt their needs were being met until I could catch up. She really cares for her peers and the patients.
