This weekend Jackie provided care to a 25-week premature infant with great skill and expertise. However, my nomination is specifically in regard to her care of the parents of the infant. She took great care in answering innumerable questions with great compassion and skill. What could have been irritating or annoying to other nurses she spent an extraordinary amount of time explaining over and over until all their questions were answered and their anxiety was relieved. From, "Does my baby pass gas? If the length is the same as last time did he grow?" and "Does he have a murmur now?" to "What is prolacta?" and "Did he pee and poop?" It was truly one question after another while caring for a fragile NICU infant. Jackie never once sounded or acted annoyed or irritated. She answered their questions with gentle compassion in a way that you would want your own family member treated. Jackie truly exemplified the I-CARE values of CCH this weekend of accountability, excellence, and great respect. I am proud to work alongside of Jackie, and CCH is lucky to have her as a valued employee. Our patients and families benefit greatly from her compassionate care.
