Every 3 weeks, 5 hours each time, I received chemo because of ovarian cancer. On my first day of chemo I had 3 nurses try to insert a needle for my chemo. None were able to. They called over a nurse named Veronica Monroy. She came over with a light to find my vein. One tap on my hand, she then inserted the needle I hate needles. My blood came out like a waterfall. I looked up at her and asked her if she would be my chemo nurse and she said yes. I saw her every 3 weeks for 5 hours for 9 months of chemo and the fourth week I had hydration for 3 hours. It was a really bad burning feeling because of the potassium. I complained every time but Veronica was patient and tried to make me laugh. She was unbelievable. She truly showed her kindness and professionalism. I could not have done it without her.
You could tell she was happy in her job because it reflected in how she treated me. I am sure she is like that with all her patients. My oncologist asked me who my cancer nurse was and I replied Veronica Monroy. His reply to that was, "Oh everyone wants her".
She is really a lifesaver. She is great with needles. She is truly an excellent nurse. It takes a special person to be a nurse and she definitely has what it takes. I am glad the chemo is over but when I have an appointment with my cancer doctors, I stop by to see her. I miss her. Your hospital is the "Elite of all hospitals".
Thank you Veronica, you got me through the most difficult time of my life.
