Once upon a time there was a little girl named R. R was born with severe disabilities and medical issues. When R turned 3 years old, she started having epilepsy. The seizures got extremely severe and started to take over R's life. After 2 years of struggling to keep R alive, her family really needed someone to assist in her care. Alecia entered R's life when she was around 5 years old and it all became history.
Moving forward 5 years here we are!
R is 10 years old and she is unable to walk, she is non-verbal, has a feeding tube, vision and hearing impairment, and severe uncontrollable epilepsy. R needs 24-hour care and continued monitoring to prevent the life threatening situations that constantly occur. Alecia has proven to us over and over again what an absolutely great nurse should be. Her professionalism is superb. Her knowledge of what medically needs to be done for R is outstanding, and her love for R is unconditional!
The care that Alecia provides is what gives us parents the peace of mind to be able to keep moving on and to know that we are not alone, that we have someone that really cares to count on. Throughout this past years, Alecia has not only been R's nurse, she has become a part of our family! She truly deserves to be recognized for her outstanding work ethic.
