My dad was in ICU and Amanda cared for him both days he was there. She was amazing. Though he was vented and sedated, she still spoke to him and told him what she was doing. She showed true compassion and was a patient advocate. She explained everything to me, step by step, and went into great detail to ensure that I was aware of every detail to help me make the best decisions for my dad. She put her hands on my shoulder and comforted me during his last hours. She made sure that my dad and my family were comfortable and that we were as ok as we could possibly be. I could never thank her enough for her honesty and straightforwardness of the reality of his condition. She comforted me, cried with me and hugged me when I was most vulnerable. I couldn't be more proud to be a nurse today as she represented what every nurse should strive to be.
