Mike is like a quiet storm. He is mild-mannered, soft spoken, and often keeps to himself. But you blink your eyes and he is gone in a flash! Answering call lights, running to bed alarms, taking care of beeping IVs. He is always busy, always taking care of business. Mike is one of the most helpful and dependable nurses I have ever worked with. I know that when he is assigned a patient, that patient will get excellent care. His clinical skills are sharp and honed, and he is a hard worker. Mike is also one of the best team players I have ever worked with. When his coworkers have crises, he is the first one there, offering his expertise and his assistance. He is also our unit EKG go-to guy. Have a tele strip that you don't understand or cannot read? He's your man. He has spent countless hours helping newer nurses on the unit prepare for their EKG tests and offering tricks and tips. Lastly, he is wonderful with the patients. He has a great bedside manner, is kind to the patients, gentle, and, most importantly, takes time with them. Even though he works 11p-7a, he is often recognized by our patients. Mike is definitely a triple threat!
We share Mike with another unit (CVH), and therefore he is only on 41 2x/week. But his presence is strong and noticeable, and we are all happy and grateful for the days he is here. Mike truly is an exemplary nurse, in every sense, and is very worthy of the DAISY Award.
