Debbie is described by her coworkers as kind, compassionate, and as someone with great integrity. Debbie immediately rounds on the staff upon her arrival each shift, making sure they have no immediate issues. She is committed to the best care and experience for the patient. One staff member has said of Debbie, "She does what is right, no matter how difficult it may be." This includes real-time coaching for better customer service and addressing safety issues as they arise.
Debbie's passion is the patients. There was once a patient who was in need of multiple resources and Debbie worked diligently with Case Management and his physicians to formulate a plan. The man was obviously frustrated and Debbie did a phenomenal job checking in with him regularly, updating him as the plan changed, and explaining the process to him. He eventually would not talk with anyone but Debbie. When the Med-Surg director spoke with him, he explained that Debbie was the one he trusted more than anyone and that the director should be proud to have her as an employee.
When asked what they love most about working for Adventist Health Selma, an overwhelming amount of staff members in the hospital simply say, "Debbie". She is a credit to the nursing profession, to this hospital, and to humanity. She loves her job, her coworkers, and her patients.
