In March, my mother was a patient here undergoing a Stem Cell Transplant. Eleni was my mother's nurse for multiple nights. She went above and beyond her duties to ensure my mother, father, and the entire family was properly cared for during her shifts.
On one of those nights, I received a call around 11 pm. It was my father who was very upset and confused. He tried to explain to me that my mother's condition had changed. For me to better understand, Eleni was kind enough to speak to me over the phone. In a very professional manner, she told me that my mother had a fever, sudden change in mental status, and difficulty speaking. Eleni's diligence provided my mother with the immediate care she required.
It gave me real relief knowing that a nurse like Eleni was caring for my mother. I live 2.5 hours away and was not able to get to the hospital until the next day. When I arrived, my mother's condition had greatly improved, and my father was more at ease. I contribute this turn of events to Eleni.
On behalf of my family, I would like Eleni to receive the recognition she deserves. My mother is a strong, intelligent, independent woman. It was difficult for us to see her in such a fragile state. Eleni not only provided excellent clinical care, but she also provided empathy that went beyond her duties as a nurse.
So, thank you to all that took care of my mother and family during our stay, especially our beloved Eleni who was a comfort during a fearful time.
