I was two hours away from being discharged when I started to feel different. I told my Nurse, Kristen Clothier, that I felt like my heart was not beating right. She immediately went and got a heart monitor and placed it on my chest. She told me that she was going out to the station to see what my heart was doing. Well, come to find out, they told me that my heart stopped and that I fell to the floor. I needed to have CPR and then my heart started up again. I don't remember any of that. I just know if it was not for Kristen's quick actions and concerns I would not be here today.
I don't know how to thank Kristen enough for all the attentiveness, caring and empathy that was shown to me. Kristen showed me that she is very skillful in delivery of care. She listened to me and followed through. I truly feel she loves the job and is very dedicated to the profession.
I am back at White Memorial for some rehab after my pacer placement. Kristen stopped in to see me and apologized for what had happened. I feel there is no apology needed. I am very thankful of the quick actions, critical thinking, and knowing of what needed done, including, starting CPR immediately. I owe my life to Kristen and will be forever thankful for giving me a second chance. IU Health White Memorial is a great facility and the staff give exceptional care. Kristen just stood out to me. I hope she continues to go the extra mile, to give that extra touch in care for patients, like what was given to me. Kristen had a positive attitude and is very professional in her work. I wish every Nurse could be just like my Nurse, Kristen Clothier.
