After a rough 2014 and an especially rough 2015, Michelle still finds the heart and soul to put into her work. There's no one with more compassion. No one. She will find the humor in each and every situation all while still being completely compassionate to those she is caring for. In 2014, our dad was diagnosed with a very rare form of prostate cancer. Michelle knew right away that it would be a miracle to save him. She was our rock, our soft spot to land, our sounding board and the answer in a world of unknowns for all of us.
In early 2015, she lost her father-in-law to cancer and was there for him and her in-laws every step of the way, right up through his last breath, and beyond. Fast forward 11 months and our father passed away from the same awful disease. The disease she goes in and treats every single day. A scary disease. There is nothing exciting about an Oncology visit. Even if you're told you're cancer free, you just went through a lot to get there. Michelle is one of those nurses that helps make that difficult journey easier. I have heard from many in the community that she is the reason they still have their sanity after a loved one has been diagnosed or gone through treatment. Nurses like Michelle are what the DAISY Award is all about.
