Lori Golzar is an exceptionally talented and caring circulating nurse in the operating room. She is meticulous in her care and is a delightful team player. She smoothly eases any tensions in the stressful environment of the operating room and is a constant advocate for patient safety. Recently, she was in a room that I was also assigned to, and we were taking care of a patient who had just suffered a dramatic and violent family dispute. This patient was memorable as he was covered from head to toe in dried blood. Lori prepped the wrist by cleaning it. The surgeons repaired the wrist and wrapped it in a splint. Lori mobilized the entire surgical team, including the surgeons, to grab a wet cloth and bathe the patient while he was still under general anesthesia. It took quite a lot of scrubbing to get all of the blood off, but we did it.The patient was extremely appreciative, and all the credit should be given to Lori. This is yet another example of the phenomenal nursing care provided in the operating room. She is an asset to our team here at Denver Health.
