Kim Groff is a true leader who has consistently shown compassion, humor, and professionalism in her management. In the past year, our department went through a transition where we merged with WBH perioperative services. Kim took the time to meet with each of us individually to ask specific questions on what was working well, what was not working well, and what we saw her role as. She listened and communicated in person, through emails, and was present in the transition and continues to be.
Through her leadership, our department saw great changes for the betterment of staff and patients. She acquired equipment we needed, found answers to questions we had and has been a great support with the transition. When short-staffed, Kim has jumped in to help with cases; she considers no job too small. She had a whole department added to her responsibilities and has done a tremendous job with taking us on.
Kim has helped get our huddle boards up and running and has created an environment of respect and trust. She has a firm policy on rumors and bad attitudes and keeps an open door policy to make herself available for people to come to her with concerns and questions. Kim supports her staff and encourages them to speak up and use critical thinking for problems. In my 16 years of working at LGH, Kim is the most positive, enthusiastic, and effective leader I have worked under, and am honored to have her as our nurse manager.
