Patty was nominated by a coworker for being kind, compassionated and very skilled in her profession. She is an excellent charge nurse/bedside nurse, and an all-around good/kind person. She consistently meets the DAISY Award criteria and I am honored to know and work with her.

Patty's 2nd nomination was by another coworker for being able to manage many priorities at one time. Jo had received a very critical patient into the PreOp. This patient was far more critical than they realized because of the patient's declining condition, it was decided that he would be started on an Esmolol drip. Patty was the Triage Nurse this day. She not only brought the medication but started the drip and titrated it to the appropriate dosing. Her intervention did not end there; after she left she sent one of her nurses over to assist with the patient. Patty is a phenomenal Triage Nurse who is able to manage the flow in 2N PACU, but able to do it in a manner that allows for safe patient care and minimal OR holds; all while helping her colleagues with whatever is needed.
Some might say, "well, that's part of her job." But, when you are a contingent nurse, as Patty is, you aren't always required to be so flexible and assume leadership roles within the unit. To Patty, it's all part of who she is and what she does. We are thankful that she is on our team!
