After my surgery, I was moved to the ICU. From there, I was moved again to a different room. After being there for a day, they removed my epidural anesthesia at noon. After that, I started to have pain which bit by bit continued to get worse. I told my nurse, but she could only give me morphine and Dilaudid, but those medicines only caused me more pain, and I couldn't take them. The nurses didn't know what to give me, and they couldn't locate my doctor. By that time, I was dying from the pain, and I felt as if I would die until at 7:00 pm, Elena arrived. She was so motivated that she was able to get in contact with my doctor and took responsibility for getting my medicine from the pharmacy. She administered the medicine. By that time I was very confused, I think due to so much pain. She was so kind, she stayed close to me and continually gave me medicine until I felt better. She spent a long time with me and helped to change my colostomy bag which had started leaking.
I was confused, I think from so much medicine to the point that I think I behaved rudely towards her. But she didn't stop being there with me; she was very loving and compassionate with me and my family. The next morning I realized that she had to leave and get home late because she spent so much time with me through the night.
In short, to this day I believe that Elena, with the help of God and my doctor, saved my life.
