She captured my attention immediately which most people can't. It was the way she spoke, her voice filled with compassion, understanding, open minded, strength, love, and support.
Jenni Smith has the Determination, the Dedication and has Devoted herself to me.
As I entered the 9th floor of Ewa Tower, as she caught my attention, and introduced herself, from that moment on, I had a feeling of warmth, comfort, and safety. She would listen to me, of all my concerns, worries, frustrations, sadness and no matter how stupid or ridiculous, and I would catch myself. She would reassure me and make me feel comfortable with anything I would ask.
She would take her time and made time just for me, to explain to me all the words I can't pronounce, spell let alone comprehend what it means. She finds a way that I can fully understand, and she teaches me how to remember the words by rhyming or finding compatible words that make sense to me. Jenni Smith also shared with open arms of herself. When I would ask her question about herself. Not only I found out and learned for myself, but also with talking with her co-workers, friends and even some of her other patients, when we would come across each other on our walks up and down the hall or at the nurses station.
From the first day we met, she has never made me feel bad or treated me like a Patient. She and everyone treated and made me feel like I belong to a part of an intoxicating love and support with an overwhelming Aloha Spirit that walks the halls and spills out of the doors of all the Ohana members. There are not words to express how grateful and thankful I am. Thank you for being there.
Note: This is Jenni's second DAISY Award!
