On the night Tricia came on as our charge nurse, my husband and I were completely exhausted. We were feeling defeated and hopeless with no real improvements in my daughter's health. Tricia could clearly sense that we were at the point of just feeling like we couldn't make it through another night of suffering for my daughter. Tricia went above and beyond to remind us what we were fighting for and how important it was for us to stay strong. She offered to spend an hour caring for our sick 7-week-old baby girl to give us an hour to recollect our emotions and strength and to get some rest. She made us feel like we had genuine support here as parents who were here with a child who'd been diagnosed with an incurable virus. Without her kindness that night, I'm not sure how strong and positive we could've stayed.
