There are not enough lines to explain just how extraordinary Shay Hubert is. First, nurses alone are a rare and special breed. They naturally put others before themselves and find fulfillment by doing for others. This week I went to Halifax to be induced with my first baby. After experiencing a prolapsed umbilical cord, emergency C-section and the most terrifying night of my life, I was blessed with Shay as my nurse. She made me laugh, spoke to me as a friend and refused to allow me to feel embarrassed when my body was doing all sorts of weird things. When my son, was taken to the NICU for two days, she comforted me when I cried, and helped me calm my nerves when I was literally shaking. She was a friend. She is a huge reason my spirits were raised and I kept the faith that all would be okay, and it was. Next to my husband, she got me through the hardest four days of my life. She's extraordinarily heaven sent. She deserves this DAISY Award more than I can say.
