Our daughter was admitted with a rare autoimmune disorder called ADEM, a very scary and anxious time for us. Kayla was our bright spot for the 3 days she was our daughter's nurse. She demonstrated a technical competence and knowledge beyond her years of experience. She was compassionate with a great sense of humor (maybe laughter is the best medicine). Our daughter often commented on Kayla's cold hands. Kayla would respond that she had a warm heart! And, indeed she did. Kayla informed us that she was relatively new to Banner, although you would not know that by the way she collaborated with the doctors and other nurses. She was always more concerned with her patients than she was with her own needs (lunch, end of shift charting). Kayla took the ordinary and made it extraordinary. She made a difficult time better just by being there, not only for our daughter but for us as well.
