I have a 15-month-old baby girl that contracted RSV/ bronchiolitis. The adverse effect that the illness took on her respiratory system led to her stay at the pediatric intensive care unit. I am a first-time mom. I've never dealt with hospitalizations or understood the severity and uncertainness associated with my daughter's illness.
We entered this experience uninformed and scared. Christa was the assigned nurse who provided my family with customer care, knowledge, professional physician support and solutions to unforeseen problems/ issues during our stay. She provided customer care during our stay by ensuring our daughter was complimented and confident while being ill.
When Christa administered my daughter's medications in a gentle and complementing manner, my daughter would immediately become less anxious. A less anxious daughter was great for improving her breathing. Christa encouraged us to get rest and take advantage of hospital resources, such as the sleep room. When we would use the sleep room and return, Christa would provide detailed updates on our daughter so that parents would not feel as if they missed a moment.
Along with providing detailed accounts of our daughter's health, Christa provided historical context to support her recommendations. The history of RSV at its worse days helped the parents make informed decisions on when our daughter needed additional support. Christa explained her medical opinion thoroughly when it wasn't understood. This allowed me to feel comfortable going against my own judgment and trust the medical professionals.
Overall, this was the best and most comfortable experience that I could have ever had under unfortunate circumstances. I appreciate this hospital and teamwork when ensuring our children are receiving the best medical care available. Thank you!
