Janet was recently caring for a patient with terminal liver cancer. After three long weeks of stay and a surgery later, the patient and her family met Janet in the ICU. Her compassion and gentle care for the patient helped to ease any worries and truly made them feel like they were family. Janet was the charge nurse and had 2 patients, but it did not go unnoticed that she made time to talk to the family and explain things to make them feel comfortable. The time and experience with Janet gave the patients' daughter and husband hope, even knowing the diagnosis was terminal. The patient's family recalled watching Janet with other patients' families as well and commented that we have an angel working here. This is what nursing is all about. Her gentle and compassionate care is truly amazing!
