I went to the ER at VMC in December for a cough I had for a month and flu. I was admitted because of my heart. I had atrial fibrillation. I was sent home Christmas Eve.
In January I passed out at home and my husband and daughter rushed me to the hospital. After a long night in the ER, I was admitted to the 6th floor. This is when I first met my angel, Viktor. He made me comfortable, visited and after that, I don't remember a thing. I woke up to find Viktor on top of me, and about six more doctors and nurses around my bed. My telemetry monitoring had detected my heart attack and called a code to my room. Viktor was sitting outside my room, looked at me and started CPR. I was then moved to the ICU.
I couldn't forget this young man who saved my life, but it hurt like the dickens. They fixed me again and sent me home.
A couple weeks later I had a blackout again. My husband called 911 so I ended up in the ER again. This time the doctor was watching the monitor when I had my attack. He said we got it, and within an hour I had a temporary pacemaker in my neck and the next day they placed a new pacemaker in my chest.
The day I was being discharged, I sat in my room and the two doors opened and Viktor was standing in the doorway. Yes, the sun was shining on him and he was my true angel. We hugged, talked, said goodbye and I started my new life because of Viktor and the whole nursing staff at Valley Medical Center.
