I am proud to present the 2020 DAISY Team Award to the Intermediate Care Unit. Each one of you embodies the mission, vision, and values of Beaumont. During the onset of the COVID pandemic, you bravely stepped up to the challenge of transitioning the IMC from its traditional role as a 25-bed telemetry unit to become Beaumont Taylor's first fully dedicated COVID inpatient unit. While this created much concern, fear, and anxiety; each of you banded together as a solid team to execute this important work. All the while never losing sight of delivering compassionate, extraordinary care every day to every patient. Keeping the patients safe was always the highest priority, however, your family atmosphere on the unit ensured you looked out for each other's safety, as well. Each team member of IMC is a role model of collaboration and teamwork that made a difference in the lives of patients, families, staff, and the community.
While these tough times have continued, this team has never stopped striving for excellence. There is no doubt when you encounter the same or similar circumstances, it will concur with the same professionalism, strength, and determination that you all displayed through the last few months.
Thank You does not seem like enough to express how grateful we are for your courageous actions. To quote Maya Angelou "Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We cannot be kind, true, merciful, generous or honest." You all faced the COVID pandemic realizing your weaknesses but concurred them with a great deal of courage and took the action needed to help those who were suffering. Your actions did not go unnoticed and we are appreciative of the kind, true, merciful, generous, and honest care you provided.
