Marianne always has her patients' best interest in mind. The recent passing of her mother put Marianne on the other side of the bed more than she would have liked. Marianne always had a compassionate heart before this, but I watched her grow even deeper after her traumatic experience. Marianne always offers a helping hand to her co-workers, her patients, and anyone else needing assistance. Just recently we had a patient on our unit for five straight months. This patient absolutely loved Marianne. He was NPO for so long that on the day of his discharge Marianne went to the store and bought him balloons, cupcakes, and ice cream, and she fed him until he was full. His eyes lit up the whole room. He told Marianne, "I remember when I first met you, and I will never forget you." This is just one example of many acts of compassion Marianne has shown.
