In September 2015, my young healthy brother was admitted with a DVT and large bilateral PE's. Angie immediately made my brother, his wife and my family comfortable. When he was clearly in pain, she made sure the hospitalist addressed it, despite the doctor's reluctance. Each family member there that day commented on what a wonderful nurse Angie is, and her care really was exceptional. In early February, my uncle was admitted to 3 East with a PE as well. He developed severe pain, and his primary nurse was having difficulty getting the hospitalist to address his issues. Angie called the doctor repeatedly until he finally agreed to come see my uncle. While his outcome was unexpected and heart wrenching for our family, I know that he had a wonderful advocate that day.
Angie goes above and beyond standard care and is truly an advocate for her patients, even when it may strain her relationship with a provider. She did for my brother and uncle what she does for all patients, and she did it because she genuinely cares, not because they happened to be related to a provider.
