Claire is a deserving recipient of the DAISY Award for numerous reasons. She is a dedicated nurse who goes above and beyond to provide the best care possible for her patients. Claire not only takes the time to get to know the patients in order to specialize their treatment to meet the patients' goals, but she also advocates for the patients' needs to the doctors and other staff. Claire is a role model to younger nurses as a preceptor and as she gives bedside reports that include the patients. Claire continuously has a positive attitude and is an excellent co-worker. She is always willing to lend a hand to help others during her shift. Her selflessness goes beyond the standard work day.
She has taken on the responsibilities of NPPC co-chair to better our hospital nurses as a whole and she initiated a local quarterly meeting of new hires to help welcome staff, share experiences and discuss concerns. Claire has strived to learn the newest evidence based practices and has volunteered to teach at in-services as well as at the bedside to continue to improve our unit's standard of care.
