I had a patient today that was here for a second surgery for the same problem. The patient was telling me about this nurse, Schulundria, who was insistent with her to have her surgery not done under a general anesthesia but local. The patient told her that her surgeon said he was doing a general anesthesia. Schulundria brought the surgeon into the pre-op room and the surgeon talked with patient and told her it was up to her, that she could have it either way. The patient stated she would just have it under a general. Schulundria reassured the patient that she would be with her throughout the procedure and that it would be safer to have a local. The patient stated that Schulundria was so insistent that she decided that she would have a local.
The patient said the experience was wonderful, no nausea, recovery was short, and she was very grateful that this nurse anesthetist knew what she was talking about and she received such excellent care that she requested Schulundria for her next surgery.
