We are truly blessed to have Ruth Sommers on our team of healthcare professionals here at Wesley Woodlawn. We work together every weekend and the compassion she gives her patients is astounding. Ruth will take the time to talk to her patients even when unresponsive, in case there is that small chance the patient can hear her. The small strokes of her hand calm them down and her kind words of encouragement. A patient's comfort and cleanliness is always very important to Ruth. Her first priority is to make sure not only her patient's feel this way but every patient she comes in contact with on her shift. I have also seen Ruth in action when a "Code Blue" has been called or a critical patient has arrived in the ICU. She is a wonder to watch alongside her fellow nurses. There is no hesitation where she belongs and that is right beside the patient. She is efficient, accurate and motivated to be the best nurse for her department as well as her patient.
